  • Pinnately trifoliolate leaf
  • Most of leaf margin is serrated
  • Inflorescence is small flowers on long racemes
  • White or yellow flowers
  • Seed is all mitten shaped
  • Persists due to hard seed
  • dicoumarol in moldy hay
  • causes bloat
