Grassini recognized by American Society of Agronomy, joins Field to Market council on sustainable agriculture

Patricio Grassini, University of –Lincoln Department of Agronomy and Horticulture assistant professor and Water for Food Institute Faculty Fellow, has earned the American Society of Agronomy's 2016 Early Career Professional Award. The award recognizes his outstanding contributions in agronomy within seven years of completing his doctorate. The ASA will present the award to Grassini at its annual meeting Nov. 6-9 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Grassini received a B.S. from the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) and a Ph.D. from Nebraska. He is internationally recognized as an authority on crop yield gaps and input-use efficiency. He has authored 30 peer-reviewed journal articles and 7 book chapters, including two F.A.O. technical reviews. Grassini provides leadership at the international, national, state and local levels, including the Global Yield Gap Atlas project.

In addition to his work for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Water for Food Institute, he is active in the American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America and Soil Science Society of America. Grassini has numerous invitations to present his research at national and international conferences.

Grassini also joins the Field to Market: Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture Science Advisory Council, a group of 12 leading experts from the scientific community who will lend their knowledge and expertise to guide Field to Market's staff and diverse membership from across the food and agricultural supply chain. The organization seeks to develop a sustainability standard for U.S. commodity crop production that helps catalyze continuous improvement in environmental outcomes. Learn more at IANR News.
