Mission Statement:
     The Soil and Plant Analytical Laboratory (SPAL) provides accurate and affordable analyses of soil, water, plant, feed and manure. SPAL's goal is to improve management decisions in agriculture and horticulture through the University of Nebraska's research and extension programs.

     Our analytical services are available to researchers, extension educators, government agencies and the general public.

Research Mandate:
     To provide analyses for research on the development of improved recommendations for the use of nutrients and soil amendments on food, forage, turf and horticultural crops to insure optimal profit and protect the environment.

Extension Mandate:
     To provide educators, producers and industry professionals with reliable information about soil and plant testing guidelines and analysis of feed and forage quality.
