- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in agronomy or a closely related field, with a GPA of 3.0+
- One semester of biology
- One semester of plant sciences
- One semester of genetics
- One semester of algebra
- One semester of chemistry
The requirements can be met by having successfully completed the courses (or equivalent courses), testing out of the courses, or by being provisionally admitted into the program and taking deficient courses early in the graduate program.
Applicants with more than two deficiencies and/or a GPA below 3.0 may not be admitted into the program. It is recommended that applicants enroll in program-related courses to remove deficiencies and raise their GPA before reapplying.

In addition to meeting the admissions requirements for your program of study, we require an official application for admission (along with a $50 non-refundable application processing fee), official transcripts from all institutions attended, a curriculum vitae or resume, a personal statement, and three professional letters of recommendation.
For international students, a TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based) or an IELTS score of 6.5 is also required.
