Description: This module introduces agribusiness professionals to turf diseases, including current and emerging diseases. While the emphasis of the course is on diseases prevalent in the Great Plains area of the U.S., the concepts will apply to turf diseases occurring in other parts of the world. Topics include pathogen biology, disease cycles, epidemiology, and plant health management strategies.
Prerequisites: Admission to the Plant Breeding & Genetics Badge program.

- Technical Requirements: Access to high-speed Internet and email with up-to-date browsers and the ability to view videos (recommended browsers are Firefox, Chrome, and Safari); must also be able to use Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat
- Textbooks: Compendium of Turfgrass Disease, Third Edition by R.W. Smiley, P.H. Dernoeden & B.B. Clarke is required and can be purchased from APS Press. All course materials are online in Campus eXtension and PASSeL. Free, additional genetics information can also be found at https://ge.unl.edu/.
