You may have seen an example of a TED talk. Now you have an opportunity to create one yourself. The Soil Science Society of America is sponsoring a competition around the 12 themes of the 2015 International Year of Soil. The audience for the talk will be the educated general public - those interested in science, college graduates, or those who work in non-science fields.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is holding a local competition open to all CASNR students. One undergraduate student entry and one graduate student entry from CASNR will be selected and submitted to the SSSA headquarters for the national competition and receive $100.
The top-ranked entry selected by SSSA will be invited to attend the 2015 SSSA Annual Meeting, to be held Nov. 15-18, 2015 in Minneapolis.
The national winning entry will receive a $500 award from SSSA to support travel and other expenses. If the national winner is from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, the School of Natural Resources, the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, CASNR will cover any remaining excess travel expenses.
The deadline for submission of your PEDology Talk video for local campus competition and judging is May 1, 2015, with winning entries notified by May 15.
