Description: The physical factors that create the biological environment. Radiation and energy balances of earth's surfaces. Near surface regimes of temperature, humidity, wind, evapotranspiration and carbon dioxide exchange.

Learning Outcomes/Course Objectives

  1. Physical factors that create the biological environment.
  2. Radiation and energy balances of earth's surfaces, terrestrial and marine.
  3. Temperature, humidity, and wind regimes near the surface.
  4. Control of the physical environment through irrigation, windbreaks, frost protection, manipulation of light, and radiation.
  5. Applications to air pollution research.
  6. Instruments for measuring environmental conditions and remote sensing of the environment.
