Request for Partial Teaching Assistantship (TA) 25/26

The Department of Agronomy and Horticulture has limited funding available to support teaching assistants (TA) for FY26. The TA funds are intended to support faculty and provide teaching experience to current undergraduate and graduate students.

Funds will be allocated, contingent on availability, based on the following criteria, in order of significance, with undergraduate courses receiving higher priority:

  1. Courses that provide a hands-on learning environment, where the TA is actively engaged in supporting students—such as lab-based, experiential learning, or recitation-based courses.
  2. Courses that involve multiple writing or presentation assignments, where the TA can assist in reviewing, providing feedback, and supporting student revisions to enhance learning outcomes.
  3. Courses where TA support enable faculty to increase enrollment capacity (e.g., adding an online section), ensuring students have access to high-demand classes.
  4. Recent history of TA funding expenditures relative to allocations to the instructor. There are limited TA funds available, and we want to be sure these strategic teaching investments are being used as intended.

The TA stipend of $1,500 is based on approximately 6 hours of teaching activity per week during the semester. Thus, the TA in-classroom commitments, time spent grading, and preparatory work should be considered toward this weekly average of 6 hours. TA funds cannot be carried forward to the next fiscal year.

Faculty are responsible for training, mentoring, and supervising of their TA(s) and will be expected to report on the professional development of TA's and their mentoring success in next year's funding request.

Funded TAs are expected to participate in the TA mini workshop organized by the department. Details will be communicated later.

Please complete the form below and submit a request for each course. Complete one form per course.  Due May 2.
