Description: This course covers the process of starting your own enterprise, including competitive environment, risk management, finance for business startups, funding, and business plan writing. Students will research a specific agricultural enterprise, then develop and present a business plan using materials from the primary area of interest. Requires completion of a shadowing assignment and analyses of case studies. Meets ACE 10 requirement.

Prerequisites: Admission to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Students must have interest or prior coursework in plant science, horticulture, agribusiness, agricultural economics, management or entrepreneurship.

Registration: This course is offered as part of the Great Plains AG*IDEA consortium.

  • Technical Requirements: Access to high-speed Internet and email with up-to-date browsers and the ability to view videos (recommended browsers are Firefox, Chrome, and Safari); must also be able to use Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat
  • Textbooks: No textbooks required. All course materials are online in Canvas.
