Easton Petsche's Internship Experience

About Me

Easton Petsche is a senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln majoring in plant and landscape systems under the turfgrass science and management option and minoring in Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship. In the summer of 2025, he interned for Nebraska Athletics as a sports turf intern, working at Barbara Hibner Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Internship Responsibilities

Over the course of his internship, Petsche spent most of his time working at the university's soccer complex, but he also helped maintain the Nebraska football practice fields. His tasks included mowing, painting, fertilizing, irrigation work, overseeding and more.

Learning Opportunities

Petsche learned what goes into managing a soccer field on a daily basis. He was able to see turfgrass diseases firsthand and learn how to treat them. He also gained more experience with irrigation and repairs, and learned the steps needed for field recovery and preparation between practices and games.

Future Career Goals

Petsche's future goal is to continue growing his lawn care business in Hickman, Nebraska. He wants to specialize in fertilization, weed control and lawn renovations.
