The Xtra Service Award recognizes a faculty member in the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture who demonstrates exceptional dedication by consistently “going beyond the call of duty” in fulfilling their professional responsibilities.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Nominee must have served as a faculty member in the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture.
- Faculty members who have previously received an outstanding service award in any category from the Department of Agronomy & Horticulture are not eligible for another award for the following three years.
- Faculty cannot receive the same award more than once in the same category.
Nomination Guidelines:
- Nominator is not required to be faculty member of the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture. Self-nomination is acceptable.
- Members of the Awards Committee are ineligible to nominate.
- Nomination must be submitted through an online form.
Nomination Package Requirement (maximum of 1,500 words to be submitted online):
- Nominee Information: Name, address, phone number, and email address.
- Nominator Information: Name, phone number, and email address.
- Clear description of how the nominee has exceeded their professional responsibilities (e.g., teaching courses without a formal teaching appointment, participating in outreach activities without an extension appointment, contributing significantly to research without a research appointment or faculty who contributes significantly to the department by serving on number of committees or community services to improve the department/society).
- Summary of committee involvement and leadership activities, awards and honors received, student mentoring. Additional pertinent details support the nominee’s eligibility for the Xtra Service Award.
