Spring Patio Planter and Hanging Basket Sale
Horticulture Club is a University of Nebraska Recognized Student Organization (RSO) that connects students who have an interest in growing and caring for plants, are interested in a career in horticulture, and wish to engage with industry professionals. Plant sales are periodically held throughout the year to fund programming activities, student travel and facility improvements. Sales were suspended for Spring 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic but were reintroduced in December 2020 as virtual sales events until in-person events can be held normally.
The Spring Bedding Plant Sale has been changed to be a Spring Patio Planter and Hanging Basket Sale with a few specialty items offered a la carte. We have made it easy for you by creating beautiful collections of planters and baskets with amazing color and durability! You simply choose the size and container type, and we do the rest. Mother’s Day is just around the corner and we have the perfect gift that will give you a summer of everlasting beauty.
We appreciate your support of the UNL Department of Agronomy and Horticulture HORT Club program.

2020 poinsettia sale brings changes, success, community support
Horticulture Club is a recognized student organization at Nebraska. Our members are students of all educational levels who are inspired by plants and their wide array of uses. We encourage students of all majors to join, and we genuinely enjoy the diverse perspectives non-horticulture majors offer the club.
If you enjoy the presence of plants, join Horticulture Club!Join the Horticulture Club
Horticulture Club is for you if:
- Plants are your life!
- Plants are your go-to past time.
- Plants are in your kitchen windowsill.
- Plants are something you stop to look at on your way to work.
- You enjoy meeting new and interesting people.
- You enjoy good food!
- You embrace who you are as an individual at the University!
- You want to experience a community like no other.
Most of the club's time is spent chatting about interesting plants and the adventures our members have had with them. In addition to preparing for our two big plant sales each year, we enjoy dreaming and planning greenhouses and landscapes. Horticulture Club plans for the future but relishes the excitement of the present.
Club members share employment experiences and explore opportunities to network. A recommendation from a fellow UNL Horticulture Club member can go a long way when looking for a new job!Send us an Email
UNL Horticulture Club is open to all UNL students and is not major specific. If you are at all interested in plants or just need an escape from classes to meet new friends, then this is the club for you!
There is no fee for joining, but we do ask for some of your time with our plant sales and other club activities.
Undergraduates are regular members. Graduate students are affiliate members and cannot vote in formal elections or hold an officer position.

We have two plant sales each year to support club activities. The Poinsettia sale is in November and the Annual Spring Sale of annuals, vegetables and bedding plants is in March.
Our goal as a club is to offer opportunities to our members to be involved in the production of a variety of species of plants. By working with plants in their many stages, our members can become familiarized with greenhouse production procedures. There is no better feeling than selling a product that was grown with your own hands.
Because we do not require member fees, we rely on the strong work ethic of our members and our two seasonal plant sales to fund our organization's activities. Previous years we have been able to visit Cardinal Farms of Dakota City, NE, Lauritzen Gardens of Omaha, NE and to Denver, Colorado for a Spring Trip.
