Horticulture Club is a University of Nebraska–Lincoln Recognized Student Organization (RSO) that connects students who have an interest in growing and caring for plants, are interested in a career in horticulture and wish to engage with industry professionals. Plant sales are periodically held throughout the year to fund programming activities, student travel and facility improvements.
Our members are students of all educational levels who are inspired by plants and their wide array of uses. We encourage students of all majors to join, and we genuinely enjoy the diverse perspectives non-horticulture majors offer the club.
Club members share employment experiences and explore opportunities to network. A recommendation from a fellow Nebraska Horticulture Club member can go a long way when looking for a new job!
We have two, sometimes three, plant sales a year to support club activities—a Succulent Sale around Valentine's Day, Poinsettia Sale in December and a Spring Sale of annuals, vegetables and bedding plants in April.
Our goal as a club is to offer opportunities to our members to be involved in the production of a variety of species of plants. By working with plants in their many stages, our members can become familiarized with greenhouse production procedures. There is no better feeling than selling a product that was grown with your own hands.
Because we do not require member fees, we rely on the strong work ethic of our members and our two seasonal plant sales to fund our organization's activities.
In previous years, the club has visited Lauritzen Gardens of Omaha, Kimmel Orchard in Nebraska City, and The Elizabethan Gardens in Dare County, North Carolina. The club has also traveled to Denver where they visited the production greenhouses of GrowHaus and Gulley Greenhouse & Garden Center and received a behind-the-scenes tour of the Denver Botanic Gardens.

Horticulture Club is open to all University of Nebraska–Lincoln students and is not major-specific. If you are at all interested in plants or just need an escape from classes to meet new friends, then this is the club for you!
There is no fee for joining, but we do ask for some of your time with our plant sales and other club activities.
Undergraduates are regular members. Graduate students are affiliate members and cannot vote in formal elections or hold an officer position.
