Forty-two undergraduate and ten graduate students in the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture and one student in the Doctor of Plant Health Program received degrees during commencement exercises May 19 and 20. Chancellor Ronnie Green delivered the keynote addresses.
A graduation celebration was held May 19 in the Goodding Learning Center, 280 Plant Sciences Hall, to honor agronomy and horticulture graduates earning degrees. See congratulatory video and list of graduates at https://agronomy.unl.edu/congratulations-2023-graduates.
Katie Bathke, plant biology major and precision agriculture minor, completed the requirements of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Honors Program. To graduate from the Honors Program, students must maintain at least a 3.5 grade-point average, complete a culminating senior project or research thesis, and fulfill other curricular requirements.
Bathke will begin graduate studies in Biological Systems Engineering in the fall at Nebraska.
Lydia Regier, plant biology major, and Abigail Ridder, a plant biology and environmental studies double major, were recognized as Chancellor’s Scholars during undergraduate commencement ceremonies. Chancellor’s Scholars are students who have maintained 4.0 grade-point averages on all collegiate work at Nebraska and elsewhere. This is the highest academic honor awarded to graduating undergraduates.
Regier is headed to the University of Kansas in Lawrence to pursue a doctoral degree in ecology and evolutionary biology.
Ridder plans to pursue a career in forest restoration management in northern Minnesota.
Thank you graduates for your talent and commitment, and for enriching the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture. Best wishes on your future endeavors.
