The peer-reviewed bimonthly journal has been published since 1957 and contains new research on all aspects of plant science relevant to continental climate agriculture, including plant production and management, horticulture and pest management. The publication is affiliated with the Canadian Weed Science Society, Canadian Society of Agronomy and Canadian Society for Horticultural Science. The journal is published by Canadian Science Publishing.
The annual award recognizes an associate editor who has handled and reviewed scientific papers submitted to Canadian Journal of Plant Science. Selection is based on scientific quality of reviews and timeliness, unbiased review process and decision on scientific papers submitted to the journal. Jhala handles weed science related manuscripts submitted to journal.
Jhala has been at Nebraska since 2012. His research focuses on the biology, gene flow and management of herbicide-resistant weeds. He is specifically interested in pollen-mediated gene flow from herbicide-resistant crops and weeds and management of herbicide-resistant weeds in corn-soybean cropping systems. Publication credits for Jhala include 11 book chapters and 85 papers published in peer-reviewed journals.
He is also serving as an Associate Editor of Weed Technology ─ a peer reviewed scientific publication of Weed Science Society of America.
