A retirement reception for Natalya Nersesian, research technologist in the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, is set for Friday, June 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in George W. Beadle Center room E228. 

Nersesian received her undergraduate training at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (formerly Lviv State University) in Ukraine (formerly USSR) in 1977.  She immigrated to the United States on February 2, 1992. In 1994, she began volunteering in the School of Biological Sciences as a volunteer in the research laboratories of emeriti faculty Tom Elthon and Paul Blum. 

Nersesian joined the Center of Biotechnology as a research technologist III in the fall of 1995 conducting research in the Flow Cytometry and Protein Core Research Facilities until spring 2000. She then joined the research program of Sally Mackenzie, former university professor, and Ismail Dweikat, agronomy and horticulture professor, within the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture. 

Nersesian has served as a research technologist I within the Plant Transformation Core Research Facility, playing key roles in the success of the biotechnology research programs around the major commodities soybean, maize, wheat and sorghum.
