“Backyard Farmer” is back for its 73rd season to help gardeners and lawn care enthusiasts keep their landscapes healthy and thriving. The new season premieres at 7 p.m. April 3 on Nebraska Public Media.
Host Kim Todd, landscape horticulture specialist with Nebraska Extension, will be joined by a panel of Extension experts and other horticulture professionals to answer viewer questions about insect pests, plant diseases, lawn care, fruits and vegetables, and landscape design.
This season, the “Backyard Farmer” team will bring back sample presentations, where panelists showcase insects, turf issues, products or a diseased plant to help viewers identify and solve common lawn and garden problems.
There also are plans for remote episodes to be recorded in north-central Nebraska and at the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island in August.
Viewers can submit their lawn and garden questions and photos via e-mail or Facebook messages.
The updated “Backyard Farmer” website features news about the series, and its Facebook page includes announcements and other garden information. In addition, past features and episodes are available for viewing on the program’s YouTube channel and as a free podcast.
