Ph.D. Plant Pathology

Amany Gomaa is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Plant Pathology, with research interests focusing on molecular plant virology and host–virus interactions. Her work aims to identify genetic mechanisms that can be leveraged to engineer virus-resistant plants through the manipulation of plant susceptibility genes. She is especially interested in uncovering the molecular and evolutionary processes that enable plant viruses to overcome genetic resistance.
