About Me
Sara May is a senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln majoring in plant and landscape systems with an emphasis in horticulture and minoring in horticulture. In the summer of 2025, she interned for Papio Valley Nursery in Bellevue, Nebraska as an assistant grower.
Internship Responsibilities
Over the course of her internship, May had several responsibilities at the nursery. She took care of typical plant care tasks like watering, pruning, deadheading, spacing and fertilizing. She also packed and processed annual order and facilitated the the propagation process.
Learning Opportunities
Through the experience, May gained "knowledge, hands-on experience and impactful connections."
Future Career Goals
In the future, May plans to own and operate a wholesale production facility specializing in the sale of trees, shrubs, annuals and perennials to landscaping companies.
