PLAS 420 / AGRO 820: Bioinformatics Applications in Agriculture

PLAS 420 / AGRO 820: Bioinformatics Applications in Agriculture

A primary goal for the course if for students to develop the needed confidence to work independently through computational biology data analysis pipelines. The goal is accomplished through a series of daily exercises designed to build and strengthen skills for working with large data sets in a high-performance Linux cluster computing environment. No prior bioinformatics or computer science experience is required. Coding fundamentals will be taught during the first few weeks of the course. Those coding skills will be applied to transcriptomics data analysis, by analyzing and summarizing findings from real RNA-seq data sets generated by the Amundsen lab.

TLMT 327: Turfgrass Science and Management

TLMT 327: Turfgrass Science and Management

The course explores the scientific principles of turfgrass physiology, species adaptation, establishment, management, relationships with soil, systems, and pest management. After completing the course, students will understand how management, environmental factors, and grass species impact turfgrass growth and performance, and how to make scientific-based management decisions.
