The University of Nebraska–Lincoln conferred 604 degrees during the summer commencement ceremony Aug. 15 at Pinnacle Bank Arena and awarded an honorary doctorate to a university icon and trailblazer.
Susan M. Sheridan, George Holmes Professor of educational psychology and director emeritus of the Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families and Schools, delivered the keynote address, “The Art of Having Lived: Simple Lessons for Global Impact.” She shared a few simple lessons that the graduates learned in preschool that remain important as they leave college.
During the ceremony, the university bestowed a posthumous Doctor of Education on Louise Pound, a Husker alumna and longtime professor who blazed many trails in her lifetime.
The following Department of Agronomy and Horticulture students received degrees.
- Kyle Ellis, College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Bachelor of Science in Plant and Landscape Systems. Advised by Anne Streich.
- Zachary Rodi Prkna, Graduate Studies, Master of Science in Agronomy and Horticulture, Specializing in Crop Physiology, Production and Horticulture. Advised by Sam Wortman.
- Samundra Sigdel, Graduate Studies, Master of Science in Agronomy and Horticulture, Specializing in Soil and Water Science. Advised by Humberto Blanco.
