About the symposium

The Nebraska Plant Science Symposium is a part of a biennial series which began in 2012. In 2015, the Symposium became an annual event. It is affiliated with the Corteva Symposium Series spanning multiple universities, facilitated by Corteva Agrisciences.

The goal of the symposium series at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln is to enhance agricultural scientific literacy, stimulate collaboration, and help build interest in plant science careers. This one-day symposium is free, open to the public, and offered via webinar to the broader scientific community around the world.

Workshops

When registering for the conference, you will select one or both workshops to attend during the poster session (timeframe). Please note that if you are planning on presenting a poster, you will only be able to attend one of the workshops.

  • BRANDOLOGY 101: Social Media Platforms and Launching into Your Career
    JOCELYN BULLOCK
    This session will address the importance of social media and how you can use it to your advantage when preparing yourself for the job – including creating relevant social media content and clear science communication. Next, we will identify your journey into science communication and how you communicate science on your topic to the public and help them better understand you, your brand, and your work. Bullock will also share tips on what NOT to do as you build your brand. Finally, we'll discuss tips on not burning yourself out as you start your post-graduate journey into science communication.

Presentations

Prefered posters should be 46 inches tall x 36 inches wide with maximum size of 48 inches tall by 48 inches wide.

Student long talks will be 15 minutes. Lightening talks will be 3 minutes with one slide.
