Tai Pleasant joined the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture July 30 as an undergraduate recruiter. He is responsible for making sure prospective University of Nebraska–Lincoln students interested in the plant sciences are provided with all the information they need to make an informed decision about higher education.

“I’m excited about my position here because I get to provide students with opportunities that were not provided to me when I was in high school,” Pleasant said. “Traveling around Nebraska to meet new students and talk to them about all the university has to offer, is a big perk!”

Pleasant earned a degree in environmental science from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska, where he was a member of the track and field team and a sports journalist for The Sower, a student-run campus newspaper.

Prior to his position at Nebraska, he was a Quality Assurance Specialist – Ammunition Surveillance (QASAS) for the Department of the Army at McAlester Army Ammunition Plant in McAlester, Oklahoma. He also has previous experience recruiting for Nebraska Care, a nurse staffing agency located in Norfolk, Nebraska.

Pleasant lives in Lincoln and considers himself an amateur urban biker, but is on his way to becoming an expert. He enjoys spending family time with his son, Myles, building LEGOs and defying gravity at local trampoline parks.
