Description: In this classical population genetics class, students will build on the theoretical concepts to develop breeding strategies for plant and animal improvement. Those who work with natural populations will also get the necessary principles to understand variation and to develop strategies to maintain genetic variation.

Learning Outcomes/Course ObjectivesStudents in AGRO 931 will learn to calculate population genetics statistics, including genetic components of variance, the resemblance between relatives, heritability calculation, predicting response to selection. Additionally, they will learn how to judge others’ work through peer-review.
