Nebraska’s team includes plant and landscape system majors Ashton Boehm, Kailey Ziegler, Daniel Frey, Thayer Jonak and Zach Nienhueser, and agronomy majors Stalder, Logan Nelson and Clinton Turnbull. Don Lee, a professor in agronomy and horticulture, and Garrett Kuss, a plant biology alumnus and graduate student in the Doctor of Plant Health program, coach and advise the team.

Six teams competed in the contest and included the winner Kansas State University, Iowa State University, Nebraska, Oklahoma Panhandle State University, West Texas A&M University and Oklahoma State University. The competition consisted of timed tests in subjects including weed and crop identification, math, general knowledge and lab practical skills.

“The team is excited to continue working toward our next competitions in Curtis, Nebraska, and Twin Falls, Idaho, later this spring,” Kuss said.
