First-year agronomy major Emily Hanson is taking one of the beginning courses in her degree, Plant Science 131, remotely this semester. Most of her days consist of watching Zoom lectures and submitting assignments from her dorm room — but to earn additional points, Hanson also gets out and walks through East Campus each week to find a plant that illustrates a concept she’s learned in class.

Bringing Improved Protein Quality to Popcorn Wednesday, August 26, 2020

David Holding, associate professor in agronomy and horticulture, became involved with popcorn breeding in 2013 when ConAgra Foods brought their popcorn breeding program to Nebraska. Holding’s lab focused on breeding independent introgressions resulting from several different QPM lines plus several elite popcorn inbreds. The result was a diverse pallet for hybrid production to take advantage of hybrid vigor.

Nebraska tops off classroom prep for return to on-campus instruction Thursday, August 6, 2020
