Nebraska Extension invites growers, crop consultants and educators to attend the Weed Management Field Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 25, 2025, at the South Central Agricultural Laboratory near Clay Center.
The field day will feature on-site demonstrations of emerging technologies and new herbicides for corn, soybean and sorghum. The morning will begin with a tour focused on weed management in soybean and sorghum, followed by a tour covering weed management in field corn.
Attendees will gain insights from field experiments evaluating herbicide-resistant weed management strategies, including a variety of herbicide programs and the use of cover crops such as cereal rye and hairy vetch.
“We have projects to demonstrate how best we can use cover crops such as cereal rye or hairy vetch for weed suppression. New herbicides and technologies are coming to the market, including Double Team sorghum,” said Amit Jhala, Extension Weed Management Specialist. “Attending this field day offers stakeholders a valuable opportunity to learn effective strategies for managing herbicide-resistant weeds.”
Three Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) Continuing Education Units will be available in the Integrated Pest Management category.
There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration is required at http://agronomy.unl.edu/fieldday.
