Resilient Cropping Systems for the Northern Great Plains

Welcome to the Resilient Cropping Systems Lab.

Our team is passionate about building a more equitable and sustainable food system. We aim to achieve this through our shared values -- treating others and ourselves with respect, kindness, and empathy, as well as practicing curiosity and transparency. We seek to enable through a work environment that includes communication, proactivity, teamwork, and collaboration.

Our research explores opportunities for agriculture to address 21st century challenges around profitability, resource use efficiency, and a changing climate. Broadly, our research seeks to cultivate cropping systems that:

  • Demonstrate resource efficiency, working with natural resources to cycle nutrients, utilize water and control pests.
  • Bounce back from disturbances, such as increased flood and drought events.
  • Support diverse and thriving rural and urban communities, because cropping systems are intertwined with people and institutions (economic, social and political).
