Agronomy and Horticulture co-hosting IANR Tailgate Sept. 28 Friday, September 27, 2019

The Department of Agronomy and Horticulture and Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences are co-hosting an IANR Tailgate starting at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Nebraska Veterinary Diagnostic Center before the Nebraska vs. Ohio State football game.

Creech Awarded CSSA Early Career Award Friday, September 20, 2019

The Crop Science Society of America has announced that it will award its 2019 Early Career Award to Cody F. Creech, assistant professor of agronomy and horticulture and dryland cropping systems specialist at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Panhandle Research and Extension Center.

27 department employees honored for years of service Friday, September 20, 2019

Bruce Anderson, University of Nebraska–Lincoln professor of agronomy and horticulture and Extension forage specialist, was honored for 40 years of service at the Sept. 18 universitywide Celebration of Service event held at the Coliseum. 26 other department employees ranging from five to 35 years of service to the university were also honored.

Agus with Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture to present at special seminar Sept. 23 Tuesday, September 17, 2019

A special seminar, hosted by the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 23 in Keim Hall, Room 150. Fahmuddin Agus, a senior researcher with the Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development, will present “Between a rock and a hard place: Carbon emissions and oil palm cultivation in peatlands.”

Celebration of Service, All-University Picnic are Sept. 18 Wednesday, September 11, 2019

Chancellor Ronnie Green will lead a universitywide Celebration of Service, honoring nearly 1,000 faculty and staff, on Sept. 18. Bruce Anderson, professor of agronomy and horticulture, will be honored for 40 years of service along with 26 other department employees ranging from five to 35 years of employment with the university.

Bringing the heat to weed management Tuesday, September 3, 2019

After seven years of research, scientists from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln are ready to light up Nebraska agriculture with a new weeding innovation. This team, headed by Dr. Stevan Knezevic, professor of integrated weed management, and George Gogos, professor of mechanical and materials engineering, presented their findings on the application of heat as a means of weed management in agriculture at a workshop Aug. 19, at the Eastern Nebraska Research and Extension Center in Ithaca, Neb.
