Yield-gap study finds China can meet rice demand despite land changes Monday, April 15, 2019
Even with the largest population on the planet, China produces enough rice to meet the demand for its largest food crop. Using primary data on Chinese rice production and the information gathered via the Global Yield Gap Atlas developed at Nebraska, a new study gives the first detailed spatial analysis estimating China’s rice production potential through 2030.

Lights, camera, traction: Research shines at media day Wednesday, April 10, 2019
Bob Wilhelm introduced the stars of the university’s inaugural Research Media Day April 8. True to the template’s form, Susan Sheridan, Craig Allen, Cary Savage and Christopher Bach proceeded to speak on their teams’ game plans, challenges and victories before taking questions from the media. One of Allen’s colleagues, Dirac Twidwell, is researching how a concept familiar to Husker football fans — encroachment — has fueled the threat of wildfires in the Cornhusker State.

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln Agronomy Club recently received the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Week Outstanding Undergraduate Student Organization Award. Alex Baumert, an agronomy sophomore, received the Outstanding Undergraduate Student Organization Member Award. Presentations were made during the Steve and Jessie Waller Awards Luncheon on March 8, part of the 19th annual CASNR Week celebration.
